There Are No Problems, Only Facts

I once heard a “spiritual” speaker discuss living in the present. Over and over he said: “Life starts now.” People at his seminar went on about their problems. He said: “There are no problems, only facts.” Let’s say you’re on your way to an important meeting and your car breaks down. Is it a problem? Or is it a fact? You can make it into a problem, or you can get the flat fixed – and be grateful that the engine didn’t blow up.
In each moment, you can remember that life starts now. Maybe you got a flat tire on the way to an important meeting – but, had you kept going, you would have gotten into a head-on collision. We never really know what destiny has in store for us. One fact is for sure – life is unpredictable.
In a relationship your partner can be your ally in reminding you to stay in the present. There are always challenges; there are always obstacles and frustrations. But they don’t have to be problems. A loving partner can help you from getting caught up in the drama of problems – when you both agree there are only facts.
